Platforms shows live train departure and arrival information for UK railway stations. This notice explains what data the app handles and why.
There are no accounts. You are never asked for a name, email address or any other identifying detail, and the app collects no analytics of its own.
When you view a station board, the app requests that station's departures
from a service we operate at rtt.willnash.uk, which passes the
request on to
RealTime Trains. The request
contains the station code you are looking at and nothing about you.
Like any internet request, it necessarily carries your device's IP address. That service runs on Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses in order to route and serve the request, and we keep short-term operational logs to diagnose faults. We do not use this information to build a profile of you or link it to anything else.
The app requests location access only when you tap Near Me in the station picker, and only while the app is open.
Your location is used entirely on your device, to sort stations by how close they are to you. The app carries its own list of station coordinates, so nothing about where you are is sent to us, to Apple, or to anyone else, and it is not stored.
You can decline location access and use the app normally — search for stations by name instead.
The app shows a single banner advert on the departure board. Advertising pays for the live train data feed, which is a paid service.

This is governed by Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from partner sites and apps.
Consent. If you are in the UK or EEA, you are asked on first launch whether adverts may be personalised. You can change your answer at any time in the app: Settings → Privacy choices.
Tracking. iOS separately asks whether the app may track you across other apps and websites. If you decline, you will still see adverts, but they will be less relevant rather than absent. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Declining either does not restrict any feature of the app.
Your selected station, departures/arrivals preference, filters and display options are stored on your device only. Deleting the app removes them.
The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Under UK GDPR you have rights over personal data relating to you, including access, correction and erasure. Because the app holds no account and we store nothing that identifies you, we will usually have no data to act on — but for data held by Google in connection with advertising, please use the Google links above, and contact us if you need help.
If this notice changes materially, the updated version will be published here with a new date.
